Joyland’s second Emancipation celebration is set to be a day-long affair tomorrow, as announced by the management of the amusement grounds on Highway 24 near Holliday. The festivities will include a football game and a jitterbug dancing contest in the afternoon, followed by a dance in the evening featuring music by Lloyd Hunter’s orchestra from Omaha, Nebraska.
The afternoon events will commence at 2 o’clock, with dancing starting at 9 o’clock. Refreshments will be available on the grounds throughout the day. The Missouri Transit Bus Lines will provide transportation from Moberly to Joyland, ensuring easy access for attendees.
The celebration has been organized by Herbert Brown and Garnett Collins, managers of Joyland, along with Prince Herald, the secretary, and a dedicated committee. The committee members include Dick Tibbs of Columbia, Braggy Smith of Huntsville, and Claude Estill and Ralph Bass of Moberly.
