Emancipation Day, or August 4th, is like the Fourth of July for the colored community. This year, they celebrated in Moberly. Despite the rain, all incoming trains were packed with people arriving for the festivities.
The colored residents of Moberly hosted a big picnic at Miller’s Fairgrounds in the afternoon, which saw a large turnout. The event was a testament to their determination to celebrate despite the weather.
