Yesterday marked a triumphant day for Madison’s ball club. Fresh off their tournament victory, the team headed to Lockwood Field and took on the Gatewood-Browns, a local Negro team, securing a 13 to 8 win. This unexpected contest came about just before game time when the Detroit Giants, the scheduled opponents for the Gatewood-Browns, failed to appear.
The last-minute matchup didn’t deter Madison’s players, who demonstrated their prowess on the field. The game showcased their skill and adaptability, as they quickly organized and executed a winning strategy against the Gatewood-Browns.
