Tonight at Moberly Athletic Field, the St. Louis Stars, champions of the Negro National League, will face off against the Moberly Baseball Club in a highlight game of the Emancipation Day celebration. This game promises to be one of the best of the season, with Moberly determined to win, especially with “Hop” Woolfolk at his best.
Leroy Matlock, a southpaw who began his career with the Moberly Eagles, will pitch for the Stars. Matlock recently led the Stars to a 2-1 victory over the Cuban House of David team, showcasing his strong form. Woolfolk, on the other hand, has also been performing exceptionally well, setting the stage for a thrilling pitchers’ duel between these two talented southpaws.
The Stars’ lineup includes notable players like ‘Mule’ Suttles, a great home run hitter, and center fielder Bell, known for his impressive range. A large crowd is expected, judging by the box seat sales and general interest in the game.
